Yesterday was surprisingly hot for April but fortunately White Park where the Tamale Festival was held had lots of shade.

This little park is a little jewel in the city.

The live music while I was there was wonderful.

I was greeted by tunes of Santana played by Andy Vargasy Los Solteros when I arrived and the dance area in front of the stage was  packed.

Audience participation was high when the DJ played Electric Slide.

The next band, Jimmy Imperial kept the dancers wanting even more.

The lines for tamales and other food items were long but they moved quickly.

Overall the 3 hours I spent was an enjoyable Saturday diversion.

I wish the organizers would have highlighted the winner of the previous year’s tamale contest by some signage so I could have stood in line at that booth.

Maybe next year.
