Shooting Silhouettes at Carlson Park, Riverside

Maria reaches skywards to catch a frisbee which I tossed amidst gusty winds along the Santa Ana bicycle trail by Carlson Park in Riverside. Mary Stover used a Cokin filter to give this silhouette a nice warm feel. Critical to most pictures is timing. A split second too late, the frisbee would be in Maria’s hands. A second too early, it would have been too far from her hands. This sort of extension adds interest to the strong graphical element of a silhouette.

Each is its own discipline. If your wedding is important, I would suggest you get separate vendors.

I shoot video too but given a choice, I will always choose stills. It’s my first love and it will probably be that way. Besides, what was it that Dirty Harry used to say? Continue reading Hiring a Wedding Photographer 1

Ryan and Katie at the end of our 2-hour photo session appears to have forgotten about us lurking in the background.

Katie and Ryan drove an hour and half from San Diego over the weekend to meet with me.

Brave souls they are to trust a complete stranger whom they’ve never met to do an engagement portrait.

I just spoke to Katie over the phone. One of my former students Jayme who’s doing extremely well in her photography business, was the intermediary.
