Before my move to a smartphone, I never knew I’d be subject to scams from crooks who strictly text.
Who hires someone without talking to them in person?
Apparently the scam artist will say he/she is hearing impaired so they get you to drop your guard because as a business owner you wouldn’t want to be perceived as prejudiced.
Since then, my eyes aren’t what they used to be but more importantly technology has improved by leaps and bounds, so it made sense that I not fight it.
Liquid Blue keeping the audience dancing with their wonderful stage presence
As your skills improve, you become more and more selective about when you take pictures especially if you’re doing it for yourself.
So don’t be surprised if you catch yourself waiting for the sun to peek out from behind the clouds.
While I was at this year’s Lunar Festival in downtown Riverside, my camera didn’t leave the bag as I was walking around.
It was very overcast all afternoon.
As the sun set, I had to confine my shots to the lit stage. By this time, I was shooting at ISO 1600
Fortunately when the band called Liquid Blue performed on the main stage, the clouds parted and we got some nice warm late evening sunlight bathing the stage.
I was able to walk around and keep the backgrounds dark and in shadow so that my subject, the singers, easily stood out without any post-production.
Compare the pictures I made of the crowd and audience not lit by the sun and those of the stage and you’ll get a feel of the big difference it makes.
Energetic, passionate and very entertaining. Liquid Blue on the main stage of Riverside’s Lunar Festival
The late evening strong directional light may be a little tougher to expose but it sure makes the singers ‘pop’ because of the contrast.
My splash screen that I used as the backdrop for my presentation
2015 did not end well.
I was rear-ended on the freeway resulting in my trusty GMC Safari van being totaled.
I was uninjured. Walked away without a scratch.
But I was determined not to let it set the tone for this new year.
Thankfully my insurance company furnished me with a rental car while my claim was being processed so I was able to keep my appointment to speak with the SCPC, South County Photo Club.
