Spring, baby birds and my kittens

Shiva looks as if she's using her tail to "fish" under the eaves.

It being their first Spring my 2 kittens, Shiva and Tempe, have discovered a new playground.

They have been prowling on the roof.

That’s a good thing as far as my wife and I are concerned.

Rats use low hanging branches to get to the roof of my old house, so they are earning their keep.

She's beside herself pacing back and forth whenever she hears those hatchings.

It’s too bad they only patrol during the day.

Since I lost Max to a coyote, I don’t leave Shiva and Tempe outside after dark.

The elusive picture I seek is one of either Shiva or Tempe near the bird’s nest and the little finch all in the same frame.

It is going to take a lot of patience and maybe some good old fashion ingenuity.

There’s not a whole lot of room up there for a camera.

I botched the exposure on this particular picture, that's why I had to try and rescue this picture. It gives you an idea of how big the finch is.

When the birds enter and leave the nest they sometimes momentarily rest on the hose for the drip system that I have for planters which I need to replace.

I’d like to place a 6-foot ladder next to the eaves and mount my camera there and trigger it remotely via a radio slave.

But a ladder would put the birds in jeopardy because Shiva and Tempe are good jumpers.

All these images were made on my 80-200 zoom with Canon 40D.
