Those of you living in the city of Riverside may or may not have realized this.

The city has a Convention Center.

It had been closed for renovation for months and is set to re-open in March which is a few days away.

That  means lots  of wall space that needs to be filled.

I was contacted out of the blue by Margie Haupt, Arts and Cultural Affairs Manager for the Riverside Metropolitan Museum to submit some work for consideration. Continue reading 4BW prints bound for Riverside Convention Center walls.

Don’t overlook those places everyone frequents for their pictures

I can't recall the last time I actively went in search for wild life. I happened across this cattle egret in the late evening sun in Fairmount Park. See the other two pictures taken within 30 feet of this spot.

I don’t think I’ll ever stop making pictures.

When my cameras were burned to a crisp inside a bus where I narrowly escaped with my life in Los Angeles, I was sick to my stomach for weeks.

The camera bodies that were incinerated were motorized Minolta XD7s with a complement of lenses and flash units.

A simple yet fun motion study

Making a base exposure is important so you can decide on how long to keep your shutter open. I stopped down so that I could get at least a 10 second shutter speed at ISO 100. On my Canon 5 D Mark2, I can  actually lower that to ISO 50 if I need to.

Remember those cheap radio remotes I bought for triggering my cameras?

In that post, I highlighted how they could be used for self-portraits a.k.a selfies.

There’s actually a better use.

So I took a drive with my tripod, the Canon 5DMarkII and my 17-35mm lens.

A funny thing happened overnight when photography evolved from film to digital.

Besides the obvious photography businesses popping up everywhere you look, now, those who used to do  it professionally find they have a new revenue stream: teaching other photographers.
