Like years past, I favored covering a graduation in the evening versus the early morning sessions.

I requested a 6 pm graduation and I was assigned the commencement for  College of Humanities, Arts and Social Science.

Temperatures are usually pleasant in early June and there is a lot of daylight on the Pierce Lawn, the site of the ceremony.

I tend to arrive 90 minutes before the start mostly because I dislike being late and in having to rush.

Being early allows me to leisurely walk the area and find excited graduates with family and friends mingling as they get ready.

It also gives me more time to capture these sort of spontaneous moments.

Waiting till after the ceremony can be dicey because the light then will be almost gone and the area will be impossibly crowded.

Purchase any of these pictures as a gift or as a surprise.

I’m sure your friends and family would love to have these as a keepsake.
