After learning about the traditional lighting patterns used in we put them in practice by photographing students from the JagAmigo club. Instead of just photographing students in their usual street clothes, our models were dress up in traditional costumes from countries in Latin America as they were also learning about “Hispanic Culture month”
In our lesson we covered Rembrandt, Loop, Short and Broad Lighting. Rembrandt, Loop, Short and Broad all feature the light being placed off to the side of the subject.
Short Lighting is where the nose is pointing towards the light source like in the two pictures below:
