We welcomed my dear friend documentary photographer Mr.Greg Schneider as a guest speaker recently during 2nd and 3rd period on Feb 14th.

He showed us the tools he uses: mostly just 2 camera bodies with a wide angle and short telephoto.

Mr. Schneider doesn’t pay his subjects in exchange for taking their pictures. Instead he keeps a supply of gift cards from MacDonalds handy which he uses instead of cash. Pictured above is exactly an instance when the subject asked him for cash in exchange for permission to take his picture.

Mr.Scheider stressed the keywords KISS. KEEP IT SIMPLE SETUP

He said he can’t remember the last time he used a tripod or a lightstand.

Having an awareness of your surroundings and projecting an air of confidence goes a long way to staving off would be thieves.

He cautioned my students to not be walking around with full attention on the phones because that will be an opportunity for robbers, muggers and thieves.
