Better group shots with Photo Merge

There is a time and a place for photoshop.

Just bear in mind, my background in photojournalism allowed very little use of Photoshop except for cloning out dust spots, dodging and burning.

My use of Photoshop was limited to what we used to do when we were making BW prints in the darkroom.

That said, there are times when photoshop can actually give me a better way to make a good picture.

The one that comes to mind most is Photoshop’s Photomerge feature.

As a finale for my class, I taught my students how a little thinking out of the box can give you a better quality image.

Rather than using a wide angle to include everyone but at a price of throwing away pixels, I showed them, in my mind, a better approach.

Is there anything scarier than not seeing your images?

The title of this should be of interest to the majority of you.

Ask any pro who’s been burned and they’ll tell you even though they may have this tool, they never live and die by it.

I have it only as a last resort.

Yesterday one of my students shot something in class.

In between her completing her shoot and her getting to her computer to download, something went awry.

My guess? She probably shut the camera off before it stopped writing or she pulled the card out of the camera before turning off the camera.

iPhoto ‘09 is here!

My copy of iPhoto’09 is finally here.

Apologies to Windows users, you can skip this post, it’s Mac specific.

 My favorite Fedex gal just dropped it off. 

Most of my “stuff” comes via UPS or Fedex.

I’m backing up my iPhoto library to another volume before I install it.

Never upgrade without doing backing up.

iPhoto 08–new features

If you haven’t upgraded to iPhoto 08, you shouldn’t hesitate.

I have to be honest that I haven’t been using previous versions. One of my biggest complaints had been that adding keywords to ease searching was unintuitive.

I guess Apple has been listening to its users.
